four violas
5'30" • 2024
This piece, a fugue in Renaissance counterpoint, stretches the notational possibilities of the table canon to their limit. A table canon is an experimental contrapuntal form in which half of the players read the music normally, and the other half simultaneously read it upside-down.
Performed at the University of Victoria by Magdaline Ferland, Olivia Crowhurst, Cavan Cornelius, and Peter Meyrick.
