Michelle Wolfenden

Michelle Wolfenden’s music explores the intersection between small-scale timbral details and broad temporal geometries. Drawing inspiration from the Rocky Mountains and Vancouver Island, her compositions evoke natural beauty using acoustic instruments and imitative, systematic, and virtuosic techniques. Michelle holds Master of Music in Composition (2026) and Bachelor of Music in Composition and Theory (2024) degrees from the University of Victoria. She will begin a Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Toronto in 2027. Among her received awards and honours are a 2025 SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship and the Canadian Music Centre BC’s 2026 Murray Adaskin Prize.
